Job description

There has never been a more exciting time to join Birmingham Children’s Trust as we celebrate our GOOD Ofsted status which we are immensely proud of.
We are seeking 8 children in care advanced social work practitioners to join the East Children in Care Hub in Birmingham. We support just under 700 children in care as corporate parents. The age being from 0- 18 years. We undertake a range of permanency planning from placement with parents, long term fostering, Special Guardianship and Adoption. We support our children in care to develop their life and independence skills gradually through their care journey and prepare them for adulthood.
The social workers in the children in care service are required to undertake care proceedings from the point of Interim Care Orders being granted through to Final Care Orders i.e , Care Order SGO, Adoption etc.
We are seeking child focused social work practitioners, who have a passion in making a positive difference to the lives of children in care. It is a very exciting time to join the Trust as a locum, due to the range of innovation taking place. There are vacancies across the 5 teams. We work from the One Avenue and Lifford House Office base, 2 set days a week for each team. All the teams work from One Avenue on a Thursday.

To be considered the candidates need to have:
• A social work qualification and hold SWE registration
• 3 years plus relevant post qualifying experience.
• A proven track record of undertaking parenting assessments, permanency planning and court proceedings.
• Have good direct work skills.
• Have good report writing and record keeping skills.

• 5 days a week for 36. 5 hours and be flexible with working hours,in line with being a corporate parent
