Somerset County Council has exciting opportunities for Practice Supervisors to join our Fostering teams in Sedgemoor, Mendip, South Somerset, and Taunton.The Key purpose of the role is to provide support and direction for our supervising social workers to support them in their work with our foster carers to get the best possible outcomes for our children.
You should be able to work with an increased level of autonomy and decision making; support less experienced colleagues with practice meetings and chair meetings as appropriate to support good outcomes for the children and young people in our care.

What we’re looking for:
• You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships with our foster carers and how you are able to make a difference for our children looked after.
• You will need to be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have substantial experience working across fostering services and with children and families.
Where we are based:
• Our four teams are based across Somerset in Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil, and Shepton Mallet. You will hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as travel is required.
• We’re supporting flexible working arrangements with a hybrid model of working from home with some work from area offices as appropriate to your appointment.
• Good technology is provided to help you stay connected to your team and manager through virtual meetings, team check-ins and service sessions.
