The Social Worker in the Child Care Management Team will carry out social work tasks related to assessments, care planning, and the development of support packages in order to promote the welfare of children.
We will need social workers available in Pembrokeshire to both work in the Haverfordwest based office and to make required visits.
Principal duties and responsibilities
1.To undertake initial and core assessments in compliance with the Assessment Framework
2. To develop care plans and support packages
3. To undertake statutory duties in respect of children looked after
4. To undertake duties in respect of children on a Care and Support Protection Plan
5. To undertake duties in respect of other children on Care and Support Plan.
6. To undertake care proceedings
7. To input data onto Care First
8. To undertake any other tasks as required
9. To work within the Wales Safeguarding Procedures and Pembrokeshire Child Care Procedures.
10. When two years post qualified, undertake to qualify and take the role of practice assessor and/or practice facilitator for social work students on placement.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
1.Social work qualification
2. Registration as a social worker with the Care Council for Wales
3. A thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of software
4. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
5. Ability to listen to and communicate sensitively with customers
6. To be able to represent the department positively through attitude, role and actions, and be able to demonstrate a commitment to anti-oppressive practices and equal opportunities
7. Experience of child care and related work
8. Practical knowledge of the relevant Children Acts, related guidance, and the framework for the assessment of Children In Need and their families.
9. Valid driving licence
10. Ability to make positive use of supervision
11. Ability to maintain accurate and up to date records
12. Ability to co-work with colleagues and promote multi-agency working
13. Ability to work well in a team setting
14. Be a qualified practice assessor or prepared to undertake training.
