JOB CONTEXT / REPORTING to:

1. The post is located in the Highways Division and the postholder reports to the Senior Project Support Officer. The Highways division is part of the Council’s Environment, Neighbourhoods and Growth department.

2. The postholder may be expected to represent the Council with external agencies and other stakeholders

3. No direct financial responsibility or staff management, but will be involved in financial processing

4. Collate NRSWA Statutory Undertaker search results when requested

5. Carry out site visits to e.g. put up works notices or photograph progress of works

6. Process enquiries and complaints records on iCasework and run relevant reports

7. Co-ordinate divisional IT needs e.g. software purchase and installation and management and maintenance of technical equipment.

8. Support for the Council’s diversity, Respect at work and other people-related policies

9. Occasional attendance at Council meetings including out of normal working hours

Knowledge, including educational qualifications:
Understanding of projects and programmes management administration
Understanding processes related to the management of projects and programmes
Understanding of finance administration
Knowledge of tendering processes and contract management.
Understanding of quality standards and customer care in service delivery.
Understanding of the functions of the council and the department.

Experience:
Substantial experience of dealing with the public, resolving queries/problems or giving advice
Experience of managing and monitoring administrative systems, including financial systems, database and filing systems.
Experience of producing reports to senior managers.
Experience in managing projects from inception to completion.
Experience in arranging and managing meetings and resolving complaints through a corporate complaints procedure.

Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people maintaining a professional manner in high pressure situations
Able to effectively plan and organise a wide and challenging workload.
Able to explain complex information clearly to members of the public, staff and consultants/contractors.
Able to write concise reports on complex issues
Able to use and manage IT including ability to collect, understand and interpret financial and statistical information and present them in a clear manner to managers and stakeholders
