Street works permitting officer required to process street works permits in the borough of Kingston.
Working predominantly from home with one day a week in the office.
Experienced in processing permits in Mayrise(desirable) and Street Manager(essential).
Good understanding of permit conditions.
Required for immediate interview and start!

About You:
You will be an experienced professional in network management or similar highways function. You will have experience of relevant IT systems and be skilled at negotiating with outside stakeholders.

About the Role:
The role is situated in the Highway Operations Team within the Highways & Transport Service. As part of a small team it provides a network coordination function across the two councils’ areas. The role is a critical part of the Highway Authorities’ discharging of their Network Management Duty – managing permitting and other licensing matters, negotiating with works promoters to ensure disruption to the network is minimised.

• Relevant technical qualification, e.g., HND/HNC/Degree or significant equivalent experience.

• Knowledge, including the practical application, of legislation relating to highway matters including the Highway Act 1980, TMA 2004, New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990
• Knowledge of inspection procedures/requirements for maintaining the highway
• Knowledge of highway engineering and reinstatement materials and methods used by Contractors and Statutory Undertakers
• Knowledge of Health & Safety as it relates to working on the public highway
• Able to communicate both orally and in writing with staff, members of the public, contractors including conclusion of sensitive negotiations around streetworks matters

Desirable:
• New Roads & Street Works qualification or accreditation
• Experience of Street Manager, permitting software
