Painters and decorators required for the damp and mould team, delivery of damp and mould treatment to reduce hazards within tenants properties, new work stream unsure of how busy this will be, following housing regulator report

Main Responsibilities:

1. To carry out the full duties associated with the trade of a Painter/Decorator for the repairs service including:

a) Strip and prepare general surfaces as required to allow for renewal of decorative finishes including woodwork and metalwork.

b) Hang lining and decorative wall and ceiling coverings.

c) Repair patches to ceiling and walls to enable application of decorative finishes.

2. To assist with and carry out other small work requiring skills other than the trade, including:

a) Transport to site and erect easy desk scaffolding to be used by others to carry out work later return and safety dismantle and remove.

3. Complete daily pro forma and other forms and provide simple reports as required.

4. Clear away own building materials where required.

5. Take responsibility for the health and safety activities applicable to the post as set out in the Homes for Haringey policy statements.

Candidate Specification

Painter/Decorator

Knowledge and Experience:

• Must possess working knowledge of painting, decorating and paper-hanging.
• Must possess a working knowledge of site safety and how it affects working practices in relationship to yourself and other persons.
• Minimum 3 years experience.
• Essential – Trade apprenticeship and/or formal qualifications e.g. C&G, NVQ Level 2.
• Hold a current CSCS card.
• Awareness of working to promote equality of access to a service within a diverse community.

Skills and Abilities

• Awareness of Health & Safety.
• Ability to carry out repair work in other trades.
• Must be willing and able to carry out own labouring.
• Must be willing to deal sympathetically with tenant’s questions.
• Literacy/Numeric –able to complete timesheets and basic forms and reports.
• Ability to ensure protection of tenants’ property.
• Able to consistently produce work to an acceptable quality standard and output level.
• Able to work off ladders and scaffolding as required.
