“Any further detail: This post has been developed as part of an exciting redesign of CAMHS provision for children and young people who are receiving support from Youth Justice, Liaison and Diversion, Early Help and Prevention services.The postholder will be co-located with the YOT and Early Help within Hackney Children and Families Services, and will have a specialist clinical role within the Children and Families Clinical Service, part of of the City and Hackney CAMHS Alliance. This post has been developed to ensure that children and young people entering the youth justice system receive early intervention and effective mental health support, and have access to clinical interventions to address their wider presenting needs and divert them away from offending behaviours.
The post holder will join the highly specialist Children and Families Clinical Service; undertaking direct work with young people, families with a range of complex presenting difficulties including offending behaviours, emotional and behavioural difficulties, abuse and neglect, developmental trauma, relationship and attachment difficulties, deliberate self harm and substance misuse problems.
TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Training in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology, Systemic Psychotherapy or equivalent Psychotherapy qualification
Counselling or Forensic Psychology), Child Psychotherapy qualification, Systemic
Psychotherapist, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Registered Social Worker /
AMHP with a minimum of one year post qualifying experience or equivalent
1. The post holder is required to demonstrate continuing professional development and have completed advanced post-qualification training in relevant areas e.g. Specialist Risk Assessment Tools, Community Psychology approaches, CBT or
Family Therapy, Trauma-focused interventions, Functional Family Therapy, Multi-Systemic Therapy, Mentalisation-based Therapy and/or Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.
2. The post holder will have current UK professional registration with the relevant body.
Further accredited training in evidenced based therapies (e.g. CBT, Systemic
Practice, Mentalisation-based Therapy,
Functional Family Therapy, Multisystemic
Therapy, EMDR, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year post qualifying & supervised experience or equivalent
working with children with behavioural, emotional and psychological problems
Experience of multidisciplinary team working in complex environments.
Experience of local health and social care systems, agencies and professions.
Experience of providing teaching and training
Extensive experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for children’s psychological care and treatment
Significant relevant experience of working with vulnerable groups and individuals within diverse ethnic communities, including the ability to work with vulnerable people in highly pressured situations, and to manage high levels of risk and anxiety while maintaining safe practice, sound decision-making and professional presentation.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Skills in complex methods of clinical assessment including specialist
assessment tools and techniques
Skilled in undertaking assessments of children’s emotional and psychological
needs and contributing these assessments to case planning in a multi-disciplinary context, including the analysis of complex information
A high level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level
complex, highly technical and clinically
sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and a
wide range of professionals
Well grounded knowledge of the factors affecting the emotional well being of
children who have experienced trauma,
separation and loss, and an excellent ability to respond to these
Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist interventions with children and young people who have engaged in offending behaviours.
Ability to engage hard-to-reach families who would not otherwise access clinical services
Skills in providing specialist consultation to other professionals
Strong ability to lead on clinical issues and practice within a YOT multi-disciplinary context.
Knowledge of legislation, policy and practice guidance as it relates to
children’s receiving YOT interventions
Knowledge and an ability to respond to the needs of children and families from a diverse range of backgrounds
Evidence of continuing professional development in accordance with
professional registration requirements
Ability and willingness to work independently with clients and in a variety of settings such as family homes
