MENTAL HEALTH ENABLEMENT OFFICER
Enfield Council’s Mental Health Enablement Service works closely with people who have severe and enduring mental health support needs in order reduce hospital delay discharge and to improve their ability to live independently and participate in the community, as well as improve quality of life and well-being.
Working mainly 1:1 in people’s homes and in the community, we provide short-term intensive support to achieve a range of agreed and personalised outcomes. Our work includes resettlement and outreach work, and support to access opportunities in employment, education and leisure. Another part of the Enablement Service is the Drop In, which offers advice, information, advocacy and support, and community links.
Provide high quality and comprehensive support to the service user to empower them to plan, work towards and achieve their outcomes.
Working effectively individually and as part of a team, to achieve service outcomes and actively contribute to the development and smooth running of the service in accordance with local policies procedures and legislation.
Enable service users to maximise independent living, community participation, and healthy living in a personalised way
Some supervisory responsibility and where required, would be expected to
assist with the induction of staff, on the job training of colleagues and students, and the allocation and checking of work.
According to the role of the post, supervise/take the lead role to work with service users to assess, design, plan, implement and support care plans/management of cases as directed by the line manager in order to maximise individual service user opportunity and development.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team, and induction, supervision and training will be available.

Job Specifics – Skills, Experience, Knowledge and Abilities
Essential:

1. As a regular and intrinsic part of this role requires you to speak to members of the public in English, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential and consistent with the requirements of this role. This role also requires you to be polite and courteous when conversing with the public.
2. Proven experience of working as main support worker to a caseload of adults who have primary, severe and enduring mental health needs
3 Experience of working independently in the community, providing practical and emotional support to service users, using a person-centred approach
4 Understands the principles of personalisation
5 Works effectively and co-operatively in a team
6 Knowledge of the Care Act 2014
