Newham Council is recruiting to a number of exciting new roles across our Building Safety Team, to inspect, manage and deliver building safety across the housing
portfolio. The Building Safety Project Manager positions will operate across the
Building Safety Team working on a range of specialist activities, such as the inspection of tall blocks to ensure the safety of cladding systems, compartmentation surveys, the identification of remediation works and also the preparation of Safety
Case Files and Safety Case Reports to meet the requirements of the Building Safety Regulator.
The role requires the active management of building safety across the Council’s housing assets, particularly, in respect of high-rise blocks, ensuring buildings are safe, well maintained and improvements undertaken where required. The Building
Safety Project Manager will provide a specialist operational function working to ensure the detailed technical inspection of buildings, the identification of remedial works where required and the instruction of fire engineers and other specialists as necessary to ensure that our buildings are safe. Supporting compliance with both statutory and non-statutory legislation, Building Regulations and the requirements of the Building Safety Bill.

KNOWLEDGE:

⦁ Essential – Knowledge and experience of building construction methods and materials.
⦁ Essential – A demonstrable understanding of building regulations and the requirements of the Building Safety legislation

⦁ Essential – A clear understanding of the requirements of the Building Safety Act and other emerging requirements, regulations and guidance.

⦁ Essential – Knowledge of the requirements for good building safety management and processes.

⦁ Essential – Good stakeholder engagement knowledge and experience.

Essential – excellent project management knowledge and experience

EXPERIENCE:

⦁ Desirable – Experience of working on construction projects with residents in occupation.

⦁ Desirable – Experience of investigating and resolving building defects.

⦁ Desirable – Experience of negotiating with internal and external parties to achieve satisfactory resolutions

⦁ Essential – Experience of successful project management.

⦁ Desirable – Experience of working on high rise buildings.

Essential – Possession of a demonstrable track record of

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

⦁ Essential – Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in private/public sector in a property maintenance, housing or construction environment.

⦁ Desirable – Educated to undergraduate degree level (or equivalent) in a building, construction, surveying, project management or related subject.

⦁ Desirable -Professionally qualified of CIOB, RICS, APM.

⦁ Essential – Experience of dealing with complex construction projects.

⦁ Essential – Proficient in MS office suite of programmes.

⦁ Essential – Analytical ability associated with the management of data, the understanding and interpretation of which is key to the delivery of programmes to deliver assurance.
⦁ Desirable – Health and safety qualification, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.

⦁ Essential – Education, Training and professional development to support continuous learning.
⦁ Essential – write clear and concise reports for internal and external stakeholders.
