We require two Best Interest Assessors to carry out assessment and other duties within the team
Please note candidates need be local to South Gloucestershire Council (BS37 5AF) as a requirement will be to complete face to face assessments in SG.

Essential:
You must have a professional social work qualification: DipSW, CQSW or equivalent and an accredited qualification as DoLS Best Interests Assessor.
You will have thorough knowledge of current MCA and DoLS legislation, case law and practice guidance.
You will have excellent communication knowledge and skills with the ability to form positive professional relationships and work as part of a team.
You will have the ability to keep appropriate records and to provide clear and reasoned reports in accordance with legal requirements and good practice, with the necessary skills to evaluate and analyse complex evidence and differing views.
You will have significant post qualifying experience in adult social care or mental health with dealings of complex MCA and DoLS cases and working across partner organisations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. You will hold a professional qualification and where necessary a professional registration.
2. You will have considerable relevant post qualifying, practical experience in similar service areas and/or to have achieved a relevant post qualifying award.
3. You will demonstrate knowledge of relevant legislation, developments of social care policy, regulations, and codes of practice, systems, initiatives, processes and procedures.
4. You will have an ability to supervise others.
5. You will have good relationship building skills, which may involve dealing with emotive situations.
6. You will have financial experience or training to carry out associated financial assessments.
7. If relevant: you will have experience of care assessment.
8. You will have a good level of general IT skills and the ability to use, or be trained in the use of, appropriate specialist in-house software packages.
