Enfield Youth Justice Service are advertising for a Referral Order, Reparation and Volunteer Officer to join our team and help us continue to deliver excellent, high-quality innovative work. All candidates must be able to work with a degree of flexibility to meet the needs of our service. We are looking to recruit a suitable candidate who is resourceful, creative and excellent at forming positive relationships of trust with young people, families and members of the community. The role will be expected to use trauma informed approach within their engagement of young people on a one to one or group work basis, providing volunteers and trainee volunteers with support, guidance, advocacy, and other activities. The role will also require the applicant to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word and PowerPoint being especially important.
Our ambition is to see children as children within youth justice services, treat them fairly and help them to build on their strengths so they can rehabilitate and make positive contributions to society. This role will contribute greatly to our ambitions by being key in supporting the development and recruitment of volunteers, working directly and indirectly with the young people in our service and share and maintain data.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and competencies.
1. Qualifications: Educated to a very good standard in English and Maths with further qualifications that demonstrate a commitment to continued personal and professional development and the capacity to understand complex, abstract issues and complete written work to a very good standard. Must have a very good level of written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a very good demonstrable knowledge and experience of IT use and administrative systems.
2. Knowledge: Some knowledge and understanding of the Youth Justice System and its aims and of child protection and welfare and criminal justice law as it pertains to young people with a good demonstrable knowledge of the issues affecting children and young people, particularly young offenders. Must have demonstrable knowledge of such issues as Criminal Justice and Welfare Legislation, Case Management, Recording and Quality Assurance. Must also have a very good demonstrable knowledge of Anti-Discriminatory and Anti Oppressive practice together with an ability to integrate these into all areas of practice. Must be IT literate with a high level of skill in programs and data bases such as Microsoft packages and Microsoft Excel.
3. Experience: Experience of working both in, and with, Children’s and Youth Services, preferably with young offenders, and experience of working in a very busy and challenging environment and working to deadlines in a high performing team with high standards of quality. Experience of producing, monitoring and updating complex database systems and the production of statistics therein. Must be able to work to policies and procedures whilst working under own initiative.

Personal Attributes: The highest levels of honesty and integrity are required of the candidate and they must be exceptionally well organised, with substantial experience in producing and presenting written and verbal information and the ability to manage a substantial workload. Flexible, dedicated, hardworking and with a commitment to providing the highest quality services as well as being clear, concise, rational and reflective in all areas of work with an ability to manage time effectively, prioritise workload and meet deadlines are essential attributes. Able to commit to working unsocial hours evening and occasional weekends to meet service needs and objectives are also essential.
2. Professional: Must be a team player who is able to communicate and develop relationships with a range of clients and professionals. and to adhere to personal and professional boundaries with an ability to produce work to a very high standard within deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to work in a non-oppressive, non-discriminatory manner with colleagues and service users, valuing diversity and ensuring an appropriate delivery of service according to individual identified need.
Desirable Qualification(s) / other*
5 A relevant qualification such as a degree in Law / criminology etc. and / or Training in Youth Offending Work.
6 An IT and / or an administrative qualification.
